The Minister of Labour Ken Kandodo has announced that the government has developed a roadmap for the creation of one million jobs per year.
According to Kandodo, the government will come up with a strategic plan that will guide the ministry and stakeholders in the implementation of the program, by September this year. In the meanwhile, consultations are being made with key stakeholders, public and private sector and formal and informal sectors to leverage on potential strategies that can create the one million jobs.
Kandodo is quoted stating that the government has developed a web-based labour market information system, on which job seekers will be able to access to identify employment opportunities as well as register for jobs. Weeks before being elected into government, President Lazarus Chakwera promised Chitipa residents that by June next year, the Tonse Alliance will have fulfilled 1 million job opportunities and start another journey of job creation. “We have a lot of natural resources such as rivers but they are misused. These can make job creation possible.” said Chakwera.
