According to Limbe Police Station Deputy Publicist, Widson Nhlane, twenty suspects will appear in court today to answer a charge of operating a liquor business without a license. The 20 women were arrested 20 women for selling Kachasu at Limbe market, without License.
The arrest comes as an early morning operation by the Limbe Police, after they were tipped that some people were illegally plying liquor (Kachasu) businesses in the market.
Meanwhile, Police have strongly warned illegal business traders that the law will not spare them. 2 years ago, the Police in Lilongwe arrested three Indian nationals and one Malawian, who were accused of manufacturing, distribution and selling of Liquor products illegally which contravenes the laws which prohibits the manufacturing of liquor packed in plastic bottles. In the same year, Malawi Parliament also passed the bill banning Liquor packed in sachets.
