As 2019 is approaching, it is good to look back on the various milestones achieved in the realm of business in Malawi. In no particular order, here is a list of business highlights in 2018;
China-Malawi Cotton Co
Salima District inaugurated the building of textile factories, courtesy of the China-Malawi Cotton Company. Graced by the the President of Malawi, the initiative is expected to benefit local farmers by demanding 100,00 metric tons of cotton whilst expected to employ 1500 people. The projects completion is planned for June 2019.
Malawi Mangoes in India
Local fruit farming and processing company Malawi Mangoes (MM) made waves after finalizing documentations to export mangoes to India. The documentation was about Sanitary and Phyto-Sanitary certificates, which were delayed by the Indian Government, but finally it came to pass.
Rab Processors wins again
Rab Processors Limited scored an award for 2 consecutive years; an excellent development by the manufacturing company. The award accredited Rab as the best manufacturing company, handed by the Chartered Institute of Customer Management. Winning both in 2017 and 2018, the company launched its own carbonated drinks and bottled water at this year’s Trade Fair, where the His Excellency Professor Peter Mutharika visited the Rab Processors stall.
TNM reports billions in profit
Stock buyers in TNM were proud to hear that by June 2018, the telecommunications company had made MWK13b in profit. The company has been competitive in its service promotions, phone sales, ICT services, new bundles and more.
