The Tobacco Control Commission (TCC) has released results for the second tobacco crop assessment. Earlier before the assessment, the commission had predicted 206.8 million kg but the results show a figure lower by 0.68%.
TCC Chief Executive Officer Kaisi Sadala said that despite the yield being 35% higher than the demand, his firm is working on making sure that all of it is bought.
The decrease in demand by buying companies left farmers in panic, but they have been advised to grow diverse crops, as foreign markets have been revealed for various exports, a development worth K400bn.
