Following the dissolution of 67 parastatal’s respective board of directors in July, the office of Secretary to the President and Cabinet has announced fresh appointments of board of directors for 67 parastatal organisations

Notable faces in the boards, filling various positions are Dr Sunduzwayo Madise, Dr Henry Chingaipe, Boniface Dulani, Justine Dzonzi, John Gift Mwankhwawa, Dr Sosten Chiotha and Dr Mwapatsa Mipando. The development follows after the Consumers Association of Malawi (CAMA) Executive Director John Kapito criticized government for dissolving the board of directors without further action, as the dissolution lasted 2 months, leaving the parastatals negatively affected

On the other hand, the Minister of Information, Gospel Kazako, outlined that the selected were the eligible people for the roles, each appointment based on experience. “…We are not going to give positions on appeasement but rather we are looking at qualifications and experience among others,” Kazako said.
