AGRICULTURE FAIR PLANNED FOR SEPTEMBER – Malawi News Online
Head of Communications the Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI), Millie Kasunda, has revealed that the 4-day Agricultural fair will happen on September 25, would be held under the theme ‘Agriculture Commercialisation; Basis for Agri-based Industrialisation’
Kasunda said that since Malawi depends on agriculture as the mainstay of the economy, it is important to consider ways of growing the sector. “The agriculture fair would, among other things, offer a chance to stakeholders to discuss best approaches to improving the sector’s share to the Gross Domestic Product,” Kasunda said. She also added that the fair would also attract insurance firms and banks to brainstorm on best approaches of funding the sector and protecting farmers from negative effects of climate change.
On the other hand, during the Dedza Agricultural 3rd Fair on Monday at Dedza Stadium, Lilongwe Agriculture Development Division Programme Manager, Sheila Kang’ombe, urged farmers to take advantage of Agricultural Fairs.
