The Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) has prepared strict measures against spreading coronavirus, amidst the reopening of the airport.
Following the above, the Airport Police spokesperson, Sapulain Chitonde, outlined that the police would ensure that measures are followed, as some of the measures include mandatory wearing of masks and automated hand sanitiser dispensers at several strategic points.
The first commercial flight into the country is expected today after a five months suspension due to Covid-19 outbreak. Prior to the flights resumption, The Ministry of Transport spokesperson James Chakwera outlined that the ministry is currently planning how to safely implement the flights amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile, coronavirus cases were at peak in July where on average, at least 21 out 100 people were testing positive for Covid-19 but cases have lowered by 7%.
