Telecommunication companies in Malawi reached further into business by retailing cellphones exclusive to their networks. While the current market demands for phones with bigger screens and better camera pixels, Airtel Malawi launched a small 2G handset for every Malawian to afford.
The phone, named ‘Bola-Hallo’, entitles itself as a primarily voice call phone, with every other feature being a bonus. The phone has 2G internet connectivity FM radio, camera, media player and up to 8G expandable phone memory, costing an affordable K7,500.
Airtel Malawi’s Marketing Director, Frank Magombo, said that the phone was purposed to be available for the masses in Malawi.
