It is said that money does not grow on trees, but when one makes money, they must make an effort to give back to the environment. Tobacco buying company Alliance One has spent 778m in the announced tree planting season.
The amount, set to provide 7.3 million tree seedlings this year, will be targeted on 2,342 hectares. Alliance One’s leaf services manager Albert Changaya has vouched for unceasing efforts towards reforestation, encouraging all Malawians to participate in the tree planting exercise.
Meanwhile various firms are participating in reforestation initiatives, following unpredictable weather patterns and massive floods in the recent years.
