Asian Muslim Relief Aid (AMRA) has set aside K450m, specifically for sending relief packs for people in areas affected by flood.
A relief pack by AMRA consists of 25kg Flour 25 of 90 gram Soya Pieces, 50 metre Plastic Sheeting Roll, 125 ml Waterguard, Large Plastic Bucket, a Blanket and K 5,000 cash.
The relief program will ensure that 15,000 relief packs are sent to affected households all affected areas. Aamir Jakhura revealed that the current focus of the program is on the eastern regions, as other organizations are contributing towards relief in the Lower Shire and Phalombe/Mulanje areas.
AMRA has been active in disaster relief since 2001, having organized relief programs since then to 2004. AMRA relief also came through during the Karonga earthquake in 2009 as well as the floods in 2015. All relief programs are estimated to collectively amount to K1bn.
Aamir Jakhura revealed that AMRA takes note of all affected areas that are identified through DODMA and District Assemblies, TA’s and Village Headmen.
