South Africa is amidst preparing for Presidential elections in May, as politicians are pitching manifestos and promising other developments. Amidst the speeches, some politicians are promising to strengthen anti-immigrant laws, which has sparked xenophobia attacks towards foreigners.
In the past week, citizens of the country have been attacking Malawians, Somalis, Congolese, Mozambicans, Nigerians and Zimbabweans, claiming that these immigrants are depriving jobs from real citizens.
The situation has backfired as Zimbabweans are currently burning down all South African registered trucks at Beit Bridge Border as a revenge for their brothers and sister who have been ruthlessly murdered in Xenophobic attacks by the South African people and it’s Government.
