Apply recently announced its first over-ear headphones, launching at $549, which is about K419,436 in local currency. The wireless headphones cost $121 more than the Playstation 5 that had launched 2 weeks prior to Apple’s announcement.
While reviewers and customers have admitted that the company’s first ever over ear headphones are pricey, it seems that the only complaint is that deliveries may delay for at least 3 months; Apple has no supplies of certain AirPod Max models for 2020, which means if a customer hadn’t ordered by 8 December, there is a slim chance they will get them before 2021. The new AirPods Max are available in five different colors: Space Gray, Silver, Green, Sky Blue, and Pink. Space Gray and Silver models currently have estimated shipping at three weeks in the US, and Apple says these models might be delivered by December 31.
Overall, reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, lauding the AirPods’ build quality, noise cancelling and overall sound. Statista.com comments, “…while the price remains very high for what are still consumer headphones, as opposed to studio headphones used by professionals that can easily set you back $1,000+, the initial outrage quickly made way for another reaction: what if these things are so good that the price is justified?”
