The African Union (AU) has provided the country with 100,000 more doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine, as confirmed by Health Minister Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda.
Chiponda, who is also Co-chairperson for the Presidential Taskforce on Covid, called on pregnant women and lactating mothers to get vaccinated because the vaccine would protect them from the disease.
On 5 March, Malawi received its first 360,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. This first shipment was a tranche of about 1.2 million doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine allocations for Malawi through the COVAX program.
