Institute of Bankers (IoB) Malawi recently organised a workshop for 10 financial institutions that have been involved in financing production of non – traditional cash crops across the country, where it was reveled that inclusive agri-business financing could transform the sector.
It was also revealed, during the meeting, that commercial banks have disbursed $65 million towards the production of the non-traditional cash crops.
The meeting was organized in partnership with Global Communities Malawi, as Global Communities Malawi Country Manager, Nobel Moyo, said they partnered the banks in implementing a project dubbed Agribusiness Investment for Market Stimulation to bolster trade in legumes, cereals, horticulture and livestock
In April, IoB organized a two-day Bankers Women Conference under the theme ‘The Power in You”, where women in the corporate sector were encouraged to support and promote each other.
