Blantyre City Council (BCC) promised to launch a Service Charter, in the interest of Blantyre residents to ensure that the council is responsive to the needs of the residents. Sticking to its word, the city council has launched a toll free line for Blantyre residents to call on.
Speaking to Biznews, BCC Public Relations Manager Anthony Kasunda said the line was means of residents to address their needs or queries. “We want to receive feedback, directly from the residents so that we can provide them with the services they need” he said.
Blantyre residents can call 800001001, but the line is available only for MTL subscribers. “We are amidst setting up a line with Airtel and TNM, which should be ready soon, to broaden our reach to residents” said Kasunda.
As BCC has revamped Blantyre’s public toilets, decorated its towns’ key streets and roads while maintaining its campaign to keep schools clean and green, the toll free line is means for Blantyre residents to own up to participate in the council’s developments.
