Management of Blantyre Adventist Hospital has issued an apology in a press statement responding to the reported poor waste development by the hospital.
Recently, pictures circulated on social media, exposing the hospital’s staff burning cartons in Sunnyside, Blantyre City. “When I was passing the bridge between Sunnyside and Dharab, parked was a Blantyre Adventist Hospital branded pick-up truck with two people in white coats dumping waste nearby.” said the individual that posted the pictures.
The statement by the hospital has explained that its incinerator developed a fault some weeks ago and is out of service. “..Since then, we have been using the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital incinerator to dispose of our medical waste and Blantyre City Council to dispose of any other waste” says part of the statement, “It therefore comes as a shock for us as management that the employees decided to do otherwise,”.
