Blantyre City Council (BCC) says the two damaged bridges in Naperi and Chilobwe townships will cost K150 million as the council’s mayor, Wild Ndipo inspected the bridges damaged by rains last week.
On the other hand, it was revealed that government and the Roads Fund Administration [RFA] were consulted and approved the identification of contractors, which have been found and will be on site as soon as possible.
The mayor revealed that the contractors, Tahiti Construction Networks and Dika Construction Company, have been given a 30-day deadline to complete the works. On the other hand, supporting the project will be Blantyre City South’s member of parliament, Noel Lipipa and Group village head Chilobwe, who both commended the council’s involvement in the rehabilitation of the bridges will ease mobility in the township.
