Commercial activities in residential areas have been banned by Blantyre City Council (BCC) has banned commercial activities in residential areas, justifying the ban as means of riding the areas of noise pollution.
BCC Public Relations Officer Anthony Kasunda also called out event planners to comply with the order to stop operating in residential areas. Kasunda making loud noise in residential areas is not only an offence, but also a public nuisance.
Mostly, gardens are the usual businesses that lurk around residential areas, as Kasunda also acknowledged this. “We inspect the gardens and engage with them so that they stop operating in residential areas and opt for commercial areas,” said Kasunda.
The ban follows a similar ban, which empowered BCC to stop people from conducting ceremonies like weddings, engagements and bridal showers in residential areas. However
