Vice-President Saulos Chilima has given Blantyre Water Board (BWB) a 30-day ultimatum to resolve water supply challenges.
As the Minister of Economic Planning and Development and Public Sector Reforms, Chilima ordered BWB to issue a press statement to promise Blantyre residents that water supply will stabilise by second October 2020.
Recently, the water board issued a statement attributing the worsening water supply to power outages at its Chileka Pumping Station, as a concerning number of households has suffered weeks without running water. “The board has committed to implement this (the stabilisation of water). We have agreed that failure is not an option for this task.” said Chilima.
