A study by the African Institute of Corporate Citizenship (AICC) showed that minimum prices that are set by the government are not respected by buying firms.

Failure to adhere to the government-set prices has deprived farmers of profits from products that they have toiled for. AICC confronted the issue during a meeting organized for buyers, decision makers and farmers, engaging the parties on pricing.

Farmers blamed responsible authorities for not enforcing the minimum recommended the prices set by the government.

AICC Programs Manager Leonard Chimwaza stressed that there is need to protect farmers and that stakeholders must ensure that this is implemented.
