News Channel Voice of America has published news of farmers resolving to grow cannabis for trade, rather than tobacco which is being campaigned against while prices are reported to be dropping.
The published video has an exclusive interview with a tobacco farmer named Phineas Chimombo, who expressed lack of hope in tobacco farming. Even better, the interview has Member of Parliament Boniface Kadzamira, who disclosed that legalization discussions will begin in March.
Last December, Parliament gave a head nod to the legislator to move a motion to legalise the cultivation and sale of industrial hemp, with Kadzamira explaining that industrial hemp is different from chamba, daring fellow MPs that they would not get intoxicated if they smoked it.
“We were the first in this part of Africa to start discussing this thing. Those countries that came after us have gone ahead of us and have already started issuing licenses,” Kadzamira said.
Meanwhile the rest of the world hails Malawi Gold as one of the “best and finest”, as parliament debates on the positive and negative effects of the legalisation, both physically and economically.
