After being bailed out by the Chief Resident Magistrate Court in Lilongwe, the CEO of CDH Investment Bank, Mischeck Esau has stepped down as CEO to answer to further interrogations by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). Despite, the board of CDH has released a statement that is backing Esau as innocent of the charges pressed by ACB.
The statement boldly claims that contrary to the accusation that the CEO failed to conduct due diligence, he has not committed any wrong doing during the procurement deal between government and Pioneer Investments.
Challenging the ACB, the statement reads ‘The Board totally refutes these allegations and they will be vigorously contested in court’.
During the bail process, Chief resident magistrate Violet Chipao stated that Mischeck Esau must visit ACB offices once per week.
