Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) alongside other consumer protection entities from 26 countries around the world, have appealed to Apple to adjust its app stores so that customers can be informed about privacy policies.
The organizations came together under an umbrella known as International Consumer Protection and Enforcement Network (ICPEN).
CFTC Executive Director, Charlotte Malonda, revealed that customers are concerned about how apps use their data if they get the right information. Speaking on the matter, she said “Transparency is a precondition for that; if consumers get clear information about the data policies, they will be able to make conscious decisions on the apps they use, according to how much data is collected and shared.”
