President Lazarus Chakwera chartered a Malawi Airlines plane to South Africa, a two-day working visit aimed to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries.
He is accompanied by First Lady, Madame Monica Chakwera; Minister of Homeland Security, Richard Chimwendo Banda; Minister of Gender Patricia Kaliati; Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda; Minister of Labour Ken Kandodo and Minister of Trade Sosten Gwengwe, as what was discussed involved trade, security, labour and tourism among others.
While the purchase/use of private jets remains a matter of concern on public expenditure, Chakwer has been flying the local airline on his visit to Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Zambia, as South Africa counts as his 5th intra-African visit.
