FDH Bank has introduced Whatsapp banking, as revealed in a statement signed by the bank’s Public Relations Officer Lorraine Lusinje, who outlined that the service will enable customers to access banking services and transact “safely and securely right from their WhatsApp chat”.
A step by step description on the use of the platform, says that customers should send ‘Hi’ to FDH Whatsapp banking line 0880849079, then customers will be provided with an interface similar to FDH Mobile banking platform where they can select and complete various transactions.
The development is the first of its nature in Malawi, as FDH Bank has always moved towards reaching the masses through digital initiatives. During the Wealth Creation Forum, FDH Bank Acting Managing Director, William Mpinganjira, called on commercial banks to embrace digital services. Talking his walk, the Acting MD FDH Bank is taking steps towards digital financial services, for instance, Airtel Kutchova and Ufulu Digital Account services among many others. The launch of the Whatsapp Banking service has added on to the many digital platforms that FDH Bank has.
“FDH Bank, as a champion of growth, recognises the role technology is playing in the industry, in development and in financial inclusion, especially in an age where WhatsApp has become a basic communication and business tool,” said the statement.
