According to the Deputy Minister of Education Madalitso Wirima, schools in Chikwawa are ready for phase 2 reopening, 3 weeks after the first phase was implemented on 7 September.
The minister is confident that after the people in the area underwent preparedness training on facemasks and infrared thermometers, the district’s schools can implement the second phase of the reopening. There is seemingly light at the end of the tunnel as weeks ago, the ministry of education also approved some colleges as ready to open, after inspecting the safety measures at Kamuzu College of Nursing, College of Medicine, Chancellor College and The Polytechnic.
While visiting the district to check on the measures trained in the schools, she called on leaders in the area to protect female students from child marriages.
