The Ministry of Transport spokesperson, Andrew Mthiko has confirmed the ministry’s plans to re-open Chileka International Airport for commercial flights on November 9, 2020.
The development follows after authorities noted a lowered registry in coronavirus cases, while Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) was reopened on the first of October, 5 months after all airports were closed in the country.
We needed to ensure that social distance markings, informative posters, sanitiser dispensers and washing stations have been put at the airport so all that has been done and our tentative date of the reopening is November 9 subject to approval by the Ministry of Health,” Mthiko said.
