Chinese Ambassador to Malawi, Liu Hongyang, Said although there is no confirmed case of coronavirus in Malawi, the country must cut off the transmission route of coronavirus as means of containing the spread of the global pandemic.
The tip by the ambassador came up amidst the Ministry of Health and Population’s directive which listed 14 countries whose travelers entering Malawi are urged to self quarantine for 14 days.
“There are also some infected people who don’t exhibit symptoms, but the people in incubation period and infected people without symptoms are also infectious, so cutting off the transmission route is the key to containing the spread of the pandemic,” Hongyang said.
He suggested that people should develop personal protective habits such as wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining social distance, reduce etiquette such as handshakes and hugs as the virus spreads through droplets and contact.
