Cooperatives Insurance Company (CIC) has launched Kangachepe Group Funeral Insurance Policy, an initiative aimed at helping less privileged farmers in times of uncertainties such as funerals.

CIC managing director Chrispinus Muang’a hailed the policy as the cheapest insurance service ever, as the policy is at K2 000 for an adult and K1 000 for a child as annual subscription, the insurance company will be giving a bereaved family K100 000 when a beneficiary dies.

Mchinji District Council vice-chairperson Kennedy Chipanga commended the policy and further asked the company to  sensitise people in all areas to the importance of insurance.

The policy comes months after CIC introduced a weather based insurance policy called “Mthangati”, with the launching ceremony to be held on 8th March 2019 at Chileka EPA in Traditional Authority Kalolo in Lilongwe district. Mthangati Insurance is being piloted in 7 co-operatives in Lilongwe, Dowa and Mchinji under the Invest Project. CIC Cooperative General Insurance is therefore inviting seed multipliers, commercial farmers and local leaders to witness the groundbreaking weather based insurance policy.
