Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) has recalled Golden Goodness Tasty Soya Pieces off the market, citing the product’s latest batch as contaminated and rotten.
In a statement by CFTC, Seba Foods limited has confirmed that its product was defective, impure and unfit for human consumption. The statement reads, “The impurity, according to the company, was identified as fungus due to high moisture level in the pack”.
The statement by CFTC has also revealed that despite the admitting that the Soya Pieces are unfit for consumption, Seba Foods Malawi Ltd has not taken steps to voluntarily recall the defective products and alert consumers about the harmful effects of the defective product.
Batches – 061818A and 061218A – packaged in 90 grams packets, were produced by the company at Seba Foods Limbe Plant.
CFTC therefor advises the general public to return any unconsumed packs of Golden Goodness Tasty Soya Pieces bearing these batch numbers to the manufacturer. Meanwhile, the Commission will proceed to conclude the investigation in line with the law.
