Residents of Chindambwi in Mangochi were drawing water from a hand dug hole which susceptible to flies, not to mention that monkeys and farm animals also accessed the hole. Having noticed that the residents were using contaminated water, Cori Managing Director, Shiraz Karim Nathanie and his team, rushed to construct a borehole in the village, through the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.
According to Nathanie, he noted the problem when he was driving around the area. “I went driving around in the bush which is my passion with my friend the chief namakoma and while we stopped at a place for drinks , some woman in that area noticed the chief with me and came to greet him also explained their water situation”. In swift response, the MD promised the community that a borehole will be constructed, courtesy of the CSR program.
“They were extremely happy and they could not believe that we fulfilled promise we made in November; the borehole was already constructed by December with the help of our lord almighty” exclaimed Nathanie.
Moving forward, the MD told Biznews that customers should expect high quality products this year. “Customers should expect high quality products without any shortage as we have been doing for three decades and we strive to always improve in any aspects acceptable” said Nathanie.
