According to an update by Public Health Institute of Malawi(PHIM), 5 new countries/areas/territories registered COVID-19, as of 10 March 2020.
The new areas are Brunei Darussalam, Mongolia, Cyprus, Guernsey and Panama. The report shows that the World Health Organization (WHO) reported confirmed COVID-19, 113 702 (4125 new) cases have been reported globally; 80 944 (20 new) cases and 3140 (17 new) deaths were reported in China, CFR 3.9%; 32 778 (4105 new) cases were reported from outside China with 186 new deaths, bringing the total to 872 deaths in 109 countries, CFR 2.7%.
The Malawi government has assured that it is closely monitoring the situation and will continuously review strategies as new information comes to light. “Screening of all travellers has been intensified in the two international airports and plans are underway to intensify surveillance in ground crossings.” says the PHIM update.
