Figures from the Public Health Institute of Malawi (Phim) have shown that there has been a decline in covid-19 vaccine uptake, as the Ministry of Health Principal Secretary (PS) Dr. Charles Mwansambo has attributed the drop to the 16 440 doses that expired on April 13.
91 598 doses were administered on April 20, out of 134 856 doses administered in a similar period of between March 24 and April 6. Thus far, 2.4% of the targeted population has been vaccinated while there is fear that more doses may expire. The vaccination exercise keeps getting a low turnout.
Meanwhile, the government has extended the vaccination to all Malawians above 18-years-old.
