The Cross Border Traders Association has noted that amidst xenophobia attacks in South Africa, some of its members are in fear of their lives as they struggle to come back in Malawi.
Cross Border Traders Association President Esther Tchukambiri revealed that the violence has affected cross border trade, as he called on both governments to come up with a protective resolve for foreigners.
300 Malawians were reported as misplaced to the xenophobic attacks, as means to bring them back home are in action. According to Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ministry spokesperson Rejoice Shumba, the South African government assured the Malawi Mission to South Africa that the safety of Malawians is guaranteed.
