As promised to stay in touch concerning information on Tropical Cyclone Kenneth, the department of climate change and meteorological services has observed that the brewing clyclone is calming down as it reaches towards Malawi.
“As on Friday 26th April 2019, Tropical Cyclone Kenneth now overland over Cabo Delgado province in Mozambique at a distance of 589km to the east of Malawi is weakening due to friction after making landfall during the last 24hrs” says a statement released by the department.
The statement says that Tropical Cyclone Kenneth has now degraded into an overland low pressure system, which means that there is no threat to weather in Malawi, especially in areas which were expected to be affected, particularly Nkhatabay and Karonga.
However, the department will communicate, as the cyclone is still being monitored closely.
