DHL Global Forwarding and Ethiopian Airlines have announced joining forces, to provide DHL-Ethiopian Airlines Logistics Services.
According to a notice signed by the Communication departments of both firms, the service offers versatile logistic solutions ranging from air, ocean and road freight services, as well as value added services including customs brokerage.
“Since its inauguration, DHL-Ethiopian Airlines Logistics Services has scaled up its operations considerably,” says the notice. The company has named Berhanu Kassa as General Manager. Kassa was the director of logistics services at Ethiopian Airlines and will undertake his leadership role of the joint venture company from Pramod Bagalwadi, the CEO of DHL Global Forwarding, Sub-Saharan Africa. The notice remarks Kassa’s appointment as timely, considering that the country is focused on growing its economy by building industrial parks in key locations to accelerate growth of exports from Ethiopia.
The General Manager outlined to launch a fourth station at the Modjo Dry Port by early 2020 where 95% of the country’s imports and exports pass through. DHL celebrated its golden jubilee this year, establishing its existence for half a century of being in business as a monumental milestone. “We want to celebrate our 50th anniversary around the globe. That’s why we’re accompanying Canadian rock legend Bryan Adams on his world tour,” says a DHL website page.
