The Asian Business Community has notified restaurants and take away operators to extend their working hours to 10pm. The directive, communicated by the community’s COVID-19 taskforce, has also outlined measures to ensure that the eateries keep customers safe during the hours.
A statement signed by the ABC COVID-19 taskforce has announced that with effect from tonight, (8th May 2020) the closing time for Restaurants and Take-Aways will be extended to 10PM. The following measures have been outlined for the eateries;
-All outlets will operate in a TAKEAWAY ONLY Basis. NO SIT IN arrangements shall be
provided;
– Loitering and Gatherings at or around the outlet must not be allowed;
– Strict Social Distancing measure must be put in place and enforced;
– Hand Washing, Hand Sanitizers, Face Masks must be enforced on ALL STAFF at the outlets;
– The “DO THE 5 (FIVE)” flyer will be included in all takeaway packages towards creating awareness.
Part of the statement reads, “It is important to understand and appreciate the position your sector places in curtailing and controlling this deadly virus.”. As of 15:17 today, Malawi has registered 43 coronavirus cases, 3 deaths and 14 recoveries.
