EGENCO ANNOUNCES FAULTS OF 3 MACHINES – Malawi News Online

The Electricity Generation Company (Malawi) Limited (EGENCO) wishes to inform the public that 3 of the 4 machines at Kapichira Power Station are out on electrical fault due to the System Disturbance that occurred on Saturday, 7 September, 2019.

According to a notice on the company’s Facebook page, only 32.4 Megawatts available out of the possible 129.6 Megawatts. “Our maintenance team is currently working to bring back the machines online as soon as possible. Currently we are running diesel generators for longer hours to minimize the impact of the forced outage of Kapichira Power Stations. We will keep the public updated on any further developments.”

On the othr hand, Escom has decried of an increase in vandalism of transformers and cables across the country. Witnesses are called to report to the nearest Escom office or the Police, concerning any suspicious activities on or around Escom infrastructure.
