According to Figures from the Ministry of Agriculture, almost all classes of livestock species have registered an increase in population with 4% for cattle and 7% for goats.
The livestock assessment shows that Sheep will increase by 3.2% , Pigs by 7.7%, Rabbits by 5.5%, Guinea Fowls by 3.2 %, Turkeys 5.0%, Doves by 11.3%, Ducks by 15.0% and Quails by 192.5%.
The assessment attributes the increases due to improved good management practices such as good housing, feeding, breeding and disease control resulting into more births than deaths. Part of the report says “Increases (are due to) due high breeding prolifically in pigs and twining ability in goats and sheep.”
