It has been reported that last Friday, Blantyre Police apprehended 36 year old Gift Green for attempting to petrol bomb a motor vehicle at St. Andrews International Primary School located at Sunny Side in Blantyre.
The Headmaster of the school, David John Marriot, said that the suspect threw an improvised explosive device being a glass bottle filled with suspected highly flammable petroleum, into a vehicle registered BS 4717.
Members of the public were alerted and rushed and apprehended the suspect, while the Police swiftly rushed to the scene. The Police took Green to Blantyre where a case of Malicious Damage has been leveled against him. According to Green, the vehicle he was attempting to bomb, belonged to an abusive employer.
The Public Relations Officer for Blantyre Police, Sub-Inspector Augustus Nkhwazi, says that further investigations are being carried out but the immediate resolve is to take the suspect for mental check up at Zomba Mental Hospital, before he is taken to court.
