As the first step of the relief plan to assist the football fraternity impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, Fifa will give Football Association of Malawi (Fam) K365 million (USD 500,000) as the second installment of operational costs for 2020.
The development follows after Fifa Development and Finance Committee approved to release advance funding to all 211 member associations to mitigate the financial impact of Covid-19 on football. The sum was planned to be paid July but will be paid immediately, following the outbreak of coronavirus in Malawi.
“In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, Fifa has relaxed the rules of accessing the funds so that football Associations (FA’s ) can cope with the current situation and easily meet their financial obligations,” said the Fam president Walter Nyamilandu.
