In an effort to encourage the production of higher yields, Agricultural Research and Extension Trust (Aret) has advised tobacco farmers to cultivate advanced tobacco types.
Speaking at Aret’s visit at Kambale Village in Phalombe, the board’s Chairperson Reuben Maigwa presented the varieties as very productive and convenient as they yield bigger tobacco leaves and do not require excess cultivation land.
Aret has planned 143 tobacco field days to tip and train various tobacco farmers across malawi. The varieties presented were ABH12, ABH31 and ABH43.
