FDH Bank plc has donated an ultrasound scanning machine worth K14 million to Mwanza District Hospital, as FDH Bank plc managing director Elias Ngalande attributed the donation to the bank’s response towards a request by the Ministry of Health in December last year.
“We are a company of Malawians, therefore, the donation is part of our social corporate responsibility because we care a lot about the health of our customers,” said Ngalande during the handover ceremony. Receiving the machine on behalf of the hospital, the ministry of health’s chief of health services Dan Namarika thanked FDH Bank for the timely donation.
“Mwanza District Hospital was in dire need of the machine as patients were being referred to Neno District Hospital and sometimes Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre to access the machine as it is useful in reproductive health of women and health of unborn children,” said Namarika. On the other hand, FDH Bank plc has donated K2 million to Friends of Embangweni Mission Hospital in Mzimba, as the funds are aimed at buying personal protective equipment (PPE) for frontline health workers amidst the coronavirus Covid-19.
