FDH Bank donated medical equipment worth K3.2 million to the Blantyre District Health Office (DHO) as relief amidst the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
The donation was presented by the bank’s head of personal and business banking Kawawa Msapato, who attributed the donation to the firm’s recognition that health officers need support in their efforts to test, track and treat Covid-19 patients. The K3.2 million relief package includes medical equipment such as surgical gloves, masks and thermometers.
Receiving the donation was the DHO’s director of health and social services Gift Kawalazira, who was grateful for the donation. Earlier this year, President Peter Mutharika called on corporate firms to assist in donations towards the fight towards the pandemic in Malawi. Health workers in the country, who emphasized that they would not work unless protective gear was provided, will benefit from such donations.
