FDH Bank has handed over K3.5 million sponsorship to Total Land Care (TLC) towards sustainable agricultural development. According to FDH Bank Public Relations Officer Lorraine Lusinje, the sponsorship will facilitate technical support to Milala Solar Irrigation Scheme, Kunthembwe area under T.A Kuntaja in Blantyre Rural.
Lusinje also attributed the contribution to TLC as the Bank’s interest in climate smart agriculture. “We have not been spared from the pangs of climate change as a country and this has had a huge impact on farming across the country. We funded it to the tune of MWK3.5million which will facilitate technical support to the project,” said Lusinje.
TLC Executive Director Zwide Jere thanked FDB Bank for the timely support and called on the private sector to contribute towards agriculture. “Total Land Care is highly appreciative of FDH Bank’s timely financial support towards investment in environmentally friendly irrigation interventions in rural Malawi.” he said.
On the other hand, the Institute of Bankers (IoB) Malawi recently organised a workshop for 10 financial institutions that have been involved in financing production of non – traditional cash crops across the country, where it was reveled that inclusive agri-business financing could transform the sector.
