FDH Bank has outlined that despite the coronavirus pandemic’s negative impact on the economy, the bank will honor its commitment to sponsor Malawi’s football and netball.
The bank’s Managing Director, Elias Ngalande, released a statement that outlined that the bank will keep its word. “Covid-19 has hit the banking business hard, but we will not make any changes to our commitment to football and netball sponsorship in the country” says part of the statement by the MD.
Last year, the bank unveiled a historic K450 million five-year sponsorship for a football cup whose inaugural contest was expected to run between May and September. It also offered a K360 million three-year sponsorship for Malawi Queens and a netball cup. Ngalande outlined that the bank will faithfully honor these pledges as the commitment to development of the country. “As a home-grown bank that champions growth, FDH Bank takes keen interest in the development of sports in the country and remains a dedicated partner to the sports fraternity.” said the statement.
The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president Walter Nyamilandu and Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) president Khungekile Matiya were therefore upbeat that once public gatherings are back to normal, the gaming seasons will be fully in operation. “This assurance demonstrates that it is not all doom and gloom despite coronavirus raging.” said Nyamilandu.
