Estac Event Management has said small and medium entrepreneurs in the country need to be given a proper platform in order to grow their businesses.

Founding Manager of Estac Event Management, Tadala Chinkwezule told Malawi News Agency (Mana) Saturday during a two Tipeze Flea Market Fair at Gateway Mall in Lilongwe.

She noted that most small and medium entrepreneurs are failing to make breakthroughs due to lack of reliable markets and business deals.

We organize the Tipeze Flea Market Fair as one ways of helping them to show case their products and services to the people. We interested to see that they are able to strike meaningful deals and secured reasonable orders for their products and services,” Chinkwezule added.

She said the Fair was designed in a way that traders buy space and they are provided with a shelter, table and chair were they are able to conduct business transactions.

“Traders are required to pay K10, 000 per day so in this case if they will be here for two days then they will pay K20, 000. It might sound more but traders are benefit a lot from such gathering and others have graduated from flea market and have opened their own shops.” The Founding Manager explained.

She said it is interesting to note that evening traders from Tanzania have been attracted to participate in the Fair and there are 10 traders that have come from Blantyre.

“So far we have registered over 60 traders who are selling merchants, clothes, shoes, furniture and several assorted products.” Chinkwezule pointed out.

She viewed that since the concept was established in October 2016 there is great positive impact to the traders and is able to contribute significantly to the country’s economy.

“The Flea market fair aiming are empowering women and youth economically by venturing to different types of businesses in which they can operate without a lot of challenges,” Chinkwezule hinted.

She said the Fair partnered with No Woman Should Die When Giving Birth (NWSDGB) and people are taking advantage of shopping and getting awareness messages on maternal and sexual reproductive health.

“We need to do business with people whose is health is up to date. We need people to see the importance of donating blood, testing their sugar levels, checking their blood pressure and this will help us have a better business deals,” she concluded.

A business Lady from Area 24, Gloria Chipeta said the flea market fair are proving to be a better solution to encourage small scale business to grow.

“Am participating for the third time but safely I can say I have registered  great trends in terms of striking business deals and getting better orders from my clients and customers,” she narrated.

A Furniture Businessman from Ares 36, George Machira explained that the initiative has helped him to expand his marketing base for his products.

“Am now getting order from Mangochi, Blantyre, Mulanje Karonga Kasungu, Salima and other places as a result of my participation the Flea market Fairs,” he disclosed.

He appealed to other traders wishing to expand their businesses to patronize such fairs for their own benefit.

The Tipeze Flea market fair is done on quarterly basis and is done in Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu.
