Tobacco Association of Malawi (Tama) Trust has announced that it will conduct its first round production estimates survey for the 2021 marketing season.

The exercise will begin from January 18 to February 5 2021, as included in a statement by Tama, has emphasised the need for accurate tobacco production estimates. The estimation exercise, will involve officers from the industry, led by the commission, will be deployed to carry out the exercise in all tobacco growing areas. “The commission is, therefore, requesting tobacco growers to accord the officers required support by providing the needed information accurately,” the statement reads.

The tobacco market last year was mixed, as there was good quality leaf as well as bad, on the other hand prices pushed upward.
