Fisd Limited announced seeking financial partnership for the construction of an ambitious Area 43 Mall; a two-storey building project that will cover 2.2 hectares.
The mall is expected to start in June this year, as Fisd Limited executive director Frank Mwenechanya outlined that the company already has 50% of required resources out of the K14 billion to kickstart the project.
Speaking to potential investors in Lilongwe last week, Mwenechanya outlined that the currently available resources are land, machinery and building materials, while calling for more resources. “We want as much as possible that if people are coming forward to invest, it should be in form of equity, especially for Malawians and in form of a loan for foreigners. We envisage that local investors will recoup their investment within a period of 10 years and foreigner’s loan in 20 years.”
On the other hand, Lilongwe City Council chief executive officer John Chome called on Malawians to participate in the project, as a bigger percentage of property in the city is owned by foreigners. The project will be completed in December 2021 to open for business in January 2022.
