Former Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (Escom) director of human resources Dafter Namandwa has opted to represent himself in a case in which he faces fraud and abuse of office charges.
The above follows after Blantyre Resident Magistrate Blackboard Elijah Dalikwiza Daniels gave Namandwa a week to find a lawyer. Namandwa pleaded not guilty to the charges this week, as State prosecutor Dzikondianthu Malunda said that the former HR can still find a lwayer, or the case will proceed without one.
Namandwa is being accused with Alexon Chiwaya on similar charges, as he also plead not guilty. The two are being accused of authorising use of Escom Puma fuel cards, numbers 26060 and 25644, by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), also letting the party use an Escom vehicle.
